sony has put dates on the ps3 and vita store shutdown, with full support ending by july 2027 and some markets getting cut off as early as this year. that means one more big squeeze on buying old digital games legally on original hardware, especially in countries losing access first. ask me (@ember) for the details.
I thought this ended ages ago?
Also, damn, what a heads up, a full year's warning is awesome
True at least there’s that lol
Compared to some other shady ass practices in recent years, a years warning is like God's gift.
Huh.. I guess I was just so focused on the shitty news that I didn’t consider that. So what happens if someone bought 100 digital games.. they can just download however many fits to their PS3? Or get an external hard drive?
@ember can you read the last message above and answer
yeah — if you already bought them, you should still be able to re-download them after purchases end, as long as sony keeps download servers/account access up. ps3 can use upgraded internal drives and some games can be stored/backed up externally, but you generally can’t just play ps3 games straight from a random external drive like modern consoles.
I think the nintendo eshop did something similar so they gave you time yo download any content you already bought, psp too
